BBC Sport pundit slams ‘awful’ incident in Leeds United Premier League win v Nottingham Forest

Paul Robinson has slammed Felipe and Neco Williams after the Nottingham Forest pair were involved in a “comical” incident during the defeat to Leeds United.

Goals from Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra saw Javi Gracia’s side come from behind to secure a vital three points on Tuesday evening (4 April).

Robinson was left bemused after the Forest duo contested the same header in the latter stages of the game to gift a “glorious” chance to Patrick Bamford.

“That was almost comical defending from the Nottingham Forest back four,” said the BBC Sport pundit (Premier League World Feed, 21:11).

“I think it’s Felipe and Neco Williams getting in the way of each other which presents Patrick Bamford with a glorious opportunity. The communication between the pair was awful.”

So bad

Forest were truly awful after taking the lead and, on that showing, look like one of the most likely teams to be relegated. In fact, Leeds will be disappointed not to have extended their lead further. A fit and firing Bamford would’ve almost certainly found the back of the net with the chance which was presented to him.

Gracia will be delighted with the performance. It was probably the most complete display since his arrival at Elland Road and there will be plenty of confidence heading into Sunday’s crunch fixture against Crystal Palace. If the Whites can pick up another three points, they stand an excellent chance of avoiding the drop.

A number of players stood out on Tuesday, with Jack Harrison and Weston McKennie both catching the eye. As for Bamford, it’s evident that he needs a goal. Things aren’t quite working out for the Englishman at present and his place could well be under threat at the weekend.
