BBC share significant update on Liam Cooper ahead of Leeds clash v West Brom

Leeds United defender Liam Cooper is expected to once again miss out of the Premier League clash against West Brom on Tuesday evening, according to the BBC.

The Whites skipper was forced off against Manchester United last week after suffering an abdominal strain and missed the 1-0 win over Burnley.

Marcelo Bielsa hasn’t shared a further update on Cooper’s fitness, with Pascal Struijk expected to continue at the Hawthorns.

There hasn’t been a timescale put on the absence of Cooper.

Bielsa has had to deal with his fair share of injuries this season, but it appears to always be his key defenders that are in the medical room.

The Whites have no senior central-defenders currently available to them, with Pascal Struijk their most experienced option.

Luke Ayling will be expected to join him against the Baggies, with Kalvin Phillips able to push forward given the home side will only play one striker.

Cooper has faced his critics this season.

The Scottish international has made the jump up to the Premier League quite well and has answered some of those who have questioned him so far.

No one has made more interceptions per game than Cooper according to WhoScored, and only Struijk has made more clearances for the Whites.

Hopefully, the 29-year-old isn’t too far away from a return, and being rested against West Brom could see him recover for the trip to Tottenham over the weekend.
