BBC pundit slams Rodrigo for error in Leeds United loss v Manchester City

Steve Sidwell has criticised Rodrigo for his misplaced pass during the Leeds United v Manchester City game that ended 4-0 for the visitors.

Battling relegation, the Whites had a rare chance to go clean through on goal and the Spaniard had Raphinha with him.

Rather than squaring the ball to the Brazilian, he ended up going for glory and then fluffed his lines.

Discussing this on the Premier League Analysis Show, Sidwell, a BBC pundit said, “This is where the best players earn their big bucks. His head is down. He’s not even looking at Raphinha.

“That’s an awful call [to not pass the ball]. It sums Leeds up at the moment. Things aren’t going well for them.”

Should have done better

This was unacceptable from Rodrigo but he will be the first one to tell you about it.

Scoring early against City could have seen Leeds sit behind and look to defend their lead.

Instead, they had to go out and play as the Citizens just kept finding the back of the net once they broke the deadlock.

Jesse Marsch cannot be faulted for this but he must ask his players to do something else in situations like these.

The Spaniard will have better moments, but he certainly hasn’t proved his worth as the club’s record signing.

Whether or not he will at Elland Road next season, remains to be seen as he’s still got plenty to impress.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites could look to sign a ‘Phenomenal’ attacking midfielder this summer as he’s already bid farewell to fans of his club.
