BBC pundit slams Joel Piroe display in Leeds United draw v Hull City as striker ‘caught in between’
Neil Redfearn was disappointed by the performance of Joel Piroe as Leeds United played out a goalless draw with Hull City on Wednesday (20 September).
Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds after the game on Wednesday, the pundit said it wasn’t the Dutch forward’s night as he was “caught in between”.
But he conceded that the 24-year-old forward is “going to have games like that” after he was substituted on 63 minutes because the Championship is a “tough league”.

“It wasn’t Piroe’s night tonight, he was sort of caught in between,” said Redfearn. “But you’re going to get games like that – it’s a tough league.”
Off day
It was just an off day for Piroe against Hull after the forward has had a bright start to life in a Leeds shirt since making the move from Swansea City.
The forward has scored three goals in four games for the Whites, including two strikes in the impressive 3-0 victory over Millwall, to pick up where he left off for the Welsh side last season.
But he was pretty anonymous at the MKM Stadium on Wednesday, as Redfearn pointed out that he was kind of caught in an awkward position between the midfielders and forward Georginio Rutter at times.

That isn’t really the Dutchman’s natural position, but he has been doing a job of making it work as Daniel Farke tries to get as many attackers on the pitch as possible.
There will be much better days ahead for Piroe and he will be looking to get back amongst the goals when his side host Watford on Saturday (23 September).
In other Leeds United news, one player could be set for a permanent Whites exit following an £82million development.
