BBC pundit raves about Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch after win v Watford

Former Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray has showered heaps of praise on Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch.

The Whites secured their third win in their last four league games after beating Watford 3-0 on Saturday.

Prior to the 2-1 win against Norwich City, Leeds had gone eight games without a win, losing seven of them.

“What an incredible job he has done,” said Murry on BBC Football Daily Podcast.

“I did worry for them under Bielsa. They brought Jesse Marsch in and they lost the first two games, and I thought this is not going very well.

“The character and what they’ve shown under him and the work he is putting on the training with the boys, to get three wins and a draw in last four games in a fantastic turnaround.”

Improvement

Murry is absolutely spot on.

Marcelo Bielsa will forever be remembered as a legendary figure at the club but a lurch in a fresh direction was needed.

The Argentine took the club to a certain level, but after a series of defeats, it felt like he ran out of ideas.

Under Bielsa, Leeds were a one-dimensional team, albeit a very attractive one. They conceded goals for fun against big teams and showed no desire to rectify those errors.

Marsch brings a pragmatic approach to the side. He has built the team based on a solid defensive foundation. It has helped the forward players to play with more freedom.

That is why now we can see goals as also clean sheets, both at the same time. These minor tactical adjustments are over wonders for Leeds at the moment.

The real test for Leeds will begin now. They face four tough games in a row, against Crystal Palace, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea, and it will be a tough ask to get at least one or two wins from those games.
