BBC pundit delivers Elland Road verdict ahead of Leeds United v Hull City
Sam Parkin believes that Leeds United playing Hull City on 20 September on the road is an occasion for scoring goals rather than if the game had been at Elland Road.
The BBC pundit is of the opinion that teams sit back when they visit Leeds, making it more difficult for Daniel Farke’s side to be expansive.
However, on the road, clubs look to make the most of their home advantage and leave spaces in behind for the Whites attackers to exploit.
Parkin told the ‘What the EFL?’ podcast: “That’s seven goals for Leeds on the road since Daniel Farke has had that bit more clarity about what his squad is going to look like. At Elland Road, they’re probably going to come up against sides that sit in and show no ambition, so maybe this is going to be a pattern we’re going to see.
“They can be devastating away from home when teams come onto them. Millwall had a go, but at Elland Road it may be difficult to break teams down.”
Spot on
Leeds have found more comfort on the road this season, at least in the first few games and Farke will be hoping to make the most out of it.
Clubs usually tend to struggle on their travels, but the Whites do not mind having a real go at scoring as many goals as possible.
In the game against Millwall, all four defenders were impressive and a solid backline gives the offensive players the license to bomb forward.
Hull are above Leeds in the table but that should not stop the Whites from taking the game to the Tigers on Wednesday.
It remains to be seen if Farke makes any changes as they played on Sunday and have another game over the weekend.
Archie Gray has played a lot given the fact that he made his debut this season so there’s a chance he’s given a breather with Glen Kamara coming in.
In other Leeds United news, Daniel Farke surely has the last laugh as footage of a £20m+ player has emerged over the past week.
