Bayern Munich contact agents of Illan Meslier in Leeds United transfer news

Bayern Munich have contacted the agent of Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier as they look for a “potential successor” to Manuel Neuer, according to Media Foot.

The Whites keeper has been in stunning form this season, producing man-of-the-match displays against the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool, and as a result, attracted plenty of attention throughout Europe.

According to the report, the Leeds shot-stopper is “being courted by Bayern Munich” due to the serious injury recently picked up by Neuer, as they have one eye on a long-term successor.

The Frenchman’s agent Yvon Pouliquen “was reportedly probed by Munich leaders to take the temperature”, with the Bavarian club also interested in Aston Villa keeper Emi Martinez.

The German club will join the back of the queue for the goalkeeper, with Meslier having a “preference for a destiny in England.”

A matter of time

Bayern Munich are now joining the queue of top European clubs being linked with The Whites’ keeper, who has gone from strength to strength so far this season.

His presence in Jesse Marsch’s team cannot be understated, and his heroics have helped the team pick up far more points than they have deserved at points this campaign.

Munich will have strong competition for the signature of the Frenchman, with both Manchester United and Chelsea interested in the keeper as a replacement for David de Gea and Edouard Mendy, respectively.

From a Leeds perspective, fans will hope the club can keep hold of Meslier for at least another season before the riches of a top-six side may force their hand.

A significant bid from the likes of Munich or United would be extremely hard to turn down, and using the money could allow The Whites to invest in several new areas of the squad.
