Athletic journalist: Brighton deliver response after third and final Leeds offer for Ben White

Brighton will reject the third and final Leeds United offer for Ben White, reported to be £25m plus add-ons.

Brighton journalist Andy Naylor delivered the update on Thursday night in a Twitter update.

He said, “An update to last night’s story. Confirmation from Brighton that their stance has not changed. A source confirms to @TheAthleticUK that a third offer has been received. ‘As previously, he is not for sale.'”

White over – time for Koch?

While not landing White is a blow, it’s a relief to finally put this one to bed. It’s been going on long enough.

After Leeds said their third bid was the final one, this is the end of the line now. It’s a good move by Leeds that gives fans a handle on what’s happening.

MOT Leeds News columnist Paul Robinson said that the club should exhaust every avenue with White before moving on.

To their credit, they’ve done that, offering a huge sum of money for a player with no Premier League experience.

They’ve now got time to find an alternative and if they move quickly, the new centre-back will still have three weeks of training with Marcelo Bielsa before the first Premier League game against Liverpool.

That’s enough time for the new signing to line-up in the starting XI, especially if he is match fit when he arrives.

That’s certainly the case if it’s Robin Koch, the player who’s been named as the alternative to White by the Telegraph.

He played 45 minutes in Freiburg’s pre-season friendly against Karlsruher SC on August 15 and should be raring to go.
