Atalanta have made contact to sign Leeds United winger Daniel James
Atalanta are eyeing a shock move to sign Leeds United winger Daniel James in the summer.
According to a report from Calcio Atalanta, the club chief Lee Congerton has earmarked him as a potential signing for the upcoming transfer window.
In fact, the report suggests that they have made initial contact with the 24-year-old winger as well. The club hope to sign him on the cheap if Leeds get relegated.
Unthinkable
The Whites will face Brentford in the final game of the Premier League on Sunday (22 May).
They have to win this game in order to secure their Premier League safety, although it will still not be good enough.

Leeds getting relegated will be a disaster, as they are certain to lose several key players.
The likes of Kalvin Phillips, Raphinha and Patrick Bamford could leave. And now James could be on his way out.
The Wales winger joined the club in the summer transfer window from Manchester United, signed by former manager Marcelo Bielsa and he had a decent season thus far.
He was one of the players Bielsa wanted to sign for a while. The Wales winger was a regular under the Argentine boss, and he got the best out of him.
James has scored four goals and provided four assists this season.
However, that’s the price a club has to pay for going down – their key players become easy targets for others.
James has played in multiple positions this season including upfront. Jesse Marsch will hope for another strong performance from him against Brentford.
If the Whites get relegated, anything can happen. James may not wish to play in the Championship and thus he could be sold as well.
In other Leeds United news, Sky Sports pair Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have predicted the Whites’ chances ahead of the final day of the season.
