Ashley Williams thrilled by Patrick Bamford in Leeds win v Southampton
Ashley Williams was left thrilled by Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford in the 2-0 win against Southampton on Tuesday.
The Whites attacker opened the scoring at St Mary’s, and almost doubled his tally before Tyler Roberts made sure of the points.
Williams admitted it was a “nightmare” to defend against the England international hopeful, who was tipped for that accolade by Dion Dublin.
Speaking on Match of the Day, Williams had nothing but praise for Bamford after yet another match-winning display.
“Very difficult,” he said.
“He’s not selfish, similar, different but very similar styles to when I played against van-Nistlerooy, always stretching, always going in behind.

“For a defender, it’s a nightmare because you have to honour that run. He’s a definite team player, he’s a striker that as a defender, you love being on the same team as.”
Nightmare.
Bamford is the in-form English striker right now in the Premier League.
Williams and Dublin are spot on to get excited about his talent, with the attacker having proved everyone wrong, currently sitting in the top five goalscorers in the division.
Harry Kane will go to the European Championships, no questions asked. Looking at the other competition, it is looking good for the Leeds man.
Ollie Watkins and Aston Villa can hardly win a game at this moment in time, Callum Wilson and Danny Ings have had bad injuries, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin is struggling in the final third.
Should Bamford be overlooked, especially with the extended 26-man squad available to the Three Lions, there is a clear big-club bias that needs addressing.
