Arsenal record breaker sends message as Harry Gray signs new Leeds contract

Harry Gray has signed his first professional contract at Leeds United, putting pen to paper on a deal described as long-term at Elland Road.

Patrick Bamford raved about Gray in May, underlining the huge excitement surrounding the 17-year-old, who made his debut for the Whites last season.

The talented teen came on against Stoke City in the Championship and may well have made an appearance this season, if not for injury.

Daniel Farke had hinted at Gray’s new contract before the Burnley match, and will be delighted to see the youngster now committing his future at Elland Road.

His brother, Archie Gray, left Leeds to join Tottenham last summer, earning the club around £30million after making more than 50 appearances.

Harry Gray sent message by Premier League wonderkid

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been helping Gray in training, Farke confirmed in an interview last month.

Unlike his brother, who often appeared in the midfield for Leeds, Gray is a promising young striker and has seriously impressed for the Whites’ Under-21 side.

Despite playing against players often five years his senior, the 17-year-old has scored seven goals and provided an assist in just 11 Premier League 2 appearances.

Gray has also featured for England U17s, already netting his first goal for his nation.

Leeds took to Instagram to congratulate the striker on his first professional contract, to which Arsenal and England youth star Max Dowman replied.

The Gunners wonderkid replied to the post with a heart, with the pair spending some time at the youth level together.

Dowman, just 15, made his Arsenal debut against Leeds this season, making history by becoming the youngest-ever player to win a penalty in a Premier League game when he was felled by Anton Stach.

What did Gray say after signing first professional deal?

The Gray name carries plenty of history for Leeds.

Harry’s dad, Andy, made 51 appearances in the Premier League for the Whites, while his grandad, Frank, won the First Division at Elland Road in the 1973-74 season.

Furthermore, Harry’s great uncle, Eddie, won the First Division twice and the FA Cup, and would go on to manage the club as well, remaining one of its greatest legends.

Speaking to Leeds following the announcement of his first contract, Gray said: “I’m just a fan really, just like anyone else. I’ve supported Leeds for as long as I know, and went to all the games and stuff.

But now I get to live everyone’s dream as a player and just as a fan and player at the same time, there’s nothing really better.

Let’s hope that dream continues on the big stage.
