Arne Slot seriously considering Feyenoord exit after Leeds United approach
Leeds United are now a serious consideration for Arne Slot after an approach was made for the Feyenoord boss, Miguel Delaney reports.
After missing out on West Brom’s Carlos Corberan and being blocked by Rayo Vallecano for Andoni Iraola the Whites have turned their attentions to the award-winning Dutchman.
Delaney reported in The Independent on Thursday morning (9 February) that he was now the “preferred candidate” with the 44-year-old subject to an approach from Elland Road after rebuffs from the two Spanish options, and the initial reaction appears positive on the manager’s side.
Delaney followed up his earlier Thursday report by posting on Twitter: “Am told Slot “seriously considering” – but a wrench to leave a Feyenoord who could win title”.
Step forward
Nobody can get too overexcited yet because despite some apparent interest from both Corberan and Iraola those both appear to have turned out as dead ends, but this is at least an opening.
Slot was named manager of the year in the Eredivisie last season, but it was Erik ten Hag’s Ajax who claimed the title, so there is an element of unfinished business for the Rotterdam-based coach.
Feyenoord are currently two points clear at the top of the league so the title is anything but a foregone conclusion, and the Leeds United opportunity looks to be one Slot is interested in.

But the Dutch club are surely going to be about as happy with losing their coach midseason as West Brom or Rayo Vallecano were so he may also be out of reach.
It opens up the possibility that he would be available in the summer, as Iraola could be, but when the Whites need a solution now that is not much immediate help.
The manager hunt is turning out to be far from straight forward, although the 2-2 draw at Old Trafford on Wednesday night has perhaps taken a fraction of the pressure off.
There appear to be options for the summer, but Premier League survival must be secured before that so it is a worry that the club are having to look further and further down their list of candidates.
