Arne Slot ‘one to watch’ for Leeds United manager job as Andoni Iraola move is blocked – Sky Sports

Feyenoord boss Arne Slot is now “one to watch” after Leeds United saw an approach for Rayo Vallecano manager Andoni Iraola blocked, according to Sky Sports.

Sky Sports suggest (9 February) Iraloa was open to a move to Elland Road and was the leading contender to replace Jesse Marsch.

It’s understood Slot is now one to keep an eye on after initially not being a target for the West Yorkshire side. In fact, The Independent claim (9 February) that Leeds have now made an approach for the 44-year-old Dutchman.

The links to Slot are certainly gathering pace and it appears he is now the number-one contender. It will be interesting to see how Feyenoord handle Leeds’ approach and whether he is open to a move to the Premier League. It’s been a disappointing couple of days for the board with Carlos Corberan also rejecting the chance to return to Elland Road.

An appointment being made by the weekend has always been the goal but at the moment it feels as if that will be very unlikely. At present, potentially waiting and making an appointment early next week would be a smarter move.

If a new manager comes through the door before the Manchester United game they wouldn’t have a chance to work with the players before the fixture. Furthermore, Michael Skubala proved he’s probably deserving of one more chance to lead the first team after the 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.

The Whites were good value for their point and the board could well be content with retaining their temporary measures for the Premier League clash on Sunday (12 February).
