Arne Slot does something strange in unseen moment before Liverpool draw vs Leeds
Arne Slot was spotted doing something against the grain ahead of his Liverpool side’s dramatic draw with Leeds United.
Ao Tanaka’s 96th-minute strike earned Leeds a 3-3 draw with Liverpool at Elland Road in a thrilling Saturday evening contest.
The game at Elland Road was not without its controversy, but Leeds were good value for their point and home fans celebrated it like a victory.
While the draw was considered a massive positive from Leeds‘ perspective, the feeling was obviously not the same for an out-of-sorts Liverpool side.
Mohamed Salah’s post-match comments have only made matters worse for Liverpool boss Slot, who has mounting problems to deal with.
Arne Slot ‘breaks managerial routine’ at Elland Road
The sack pressure on Slot has only increased at Liverpool as a result of their calamitous defensive display in West Yorkshire.
Slot cannot seem to catch a break right now, and despite only winning the Premier League title six months ago, his future at Anfield is now under serious doubt.
The Dutchman was spotted doing something unusual prior to the match with Leeds, too, as pointed out by Graham Smyth in his unseen moments article for the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“Slot breaking the usual managerial routine and emerging from the tunnel and watching his side’s warm-up from the Leeds technical area, before running onto the pitch to control a stray ball,” Smyth wrote.
The “unusual” nature of this is that managers do not usually tend to emerge from the tunnel until just before the game.
Slot clearly wanted to oversee the pre-match training drill, though, and even got involved somewhat when returning a stray pass.
The reason Daniel Farke will have sympathy for Slot
Daniel Farke is no stranger to talk surrounding his future. Indeed, Farke could still be sacked by Leeds despite a massive week of results – and indeed performances.
After battling back from behind in a narrow loss to Manchester City, Leeds have now taken four points from games with Chelsea and Liverpool.
| Leeds | Liverpool | |
| 3 | Goals | 3 |
| 12 | Shots | 16 |
| 5 | Shots on target | 7 |
| 1.51 | Expected goals | 1.81 |
| 45.3% | Possession | 54.7% |
As for Slot, his side have won just one of their past six games in all competitions and it is difficult to see how he will turn things around.
Leeds played the Reds at a good time, with this point being potentially massive come the end of the campaign.
Just like Farke has turned things around at Leeds, Slot will hold out hope of doing the same at Anfield.
