Arne Slot and Nuno Espirito Santo now named in running for Leeds United job amid Andrea Radrizzani desperation

Arne Slot and Nuno Espirito Santo are now named as two candidates for the Leeds United job, as chairman Andrea Radrizzani is desperate to name a new manager before Sunday’s game with Manchester United, according to the Mirror.

The Whites are on the hunt for a new manager following the sacking of Marsch on Monday [6 February] and Slott, 44, is reportedly on the radar of the Leeds United hierarchy [Dick Voormekaar Podcast, 7 February] according to Dutch reports.

Leeds have been heavily linked with Rayo Vallecano boss Andoni Iraoloa, but the former Spanish international rejected [Raul Granado, 8 February] the chance of a switch to West Yorkshire on Wednesday.

And according to the Mirror [9 February, pg 65] Radrizzani has been left increasingly frustrated by the lack of progress made on any managerial appointment and is desperate to name a new man at the helm before Manchester United visit Elland Road on Sunday.

Feyenoord manager Arne Slot and former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo, who has been linked [Daily Mirror 8 February, page 52] previously with the vacant position have been name-checked as the latest candidates Radrizzani is interested in as desperation grows at Elland Road.

Desperation

It is evidently clear the Whites board are growing desperate in their attempts to name a new manager, and it is looking increasingly unlikely they’d be able to appoint one before Sunday’s crucial clash.

Leeds have already been rejected by reported frontrunner Carlos Corberan who signed a new deal to stay at West Brom, and the Iraola rejection certainly comes as a crushing blow seeing as he was Victor Orta favourite.

Slot, 44, represents a superb project appointment considering the tremendous work he’s done at Feyenoord and previously at AZ Alkmaar, but it is unlikely he’d choose to jump ship at such a crucial time in Feyenoord’s season who currently sit top of the Dutch Eredivisie.

Who Radrizzani turns to now is completely uncertain, with Nuno Sanot’s name now once again in the frame, but one thing is clear, the Whites simply cannot rush their choice as their Premier League status depends on this crucial decision.
