Archie Gray speaks on Leeds United future amid recent transfer speculation
Archie Gray has broken his silence on his Leeds United future amid recent speculation that several clubs want to sign him.
The Whites sensation has been linked with a move to Liverpool as well as Manchester City in recent times after his brilliant performances for the club as a 17-year-old this season in the Championship.
Daniel Farke’s side are well placed for promotion back to the top-flight but there has been speculation he could leave if they fail to get back this season, however Gray was adamant he sees himself at Elland Road for the long-term when asked by Chris Dawkes about his career ambitions (1 March).
“I think I’ve said it before,” he said. “Getting Leeds to the place they belong and doing as well as I can there.
“Hopefully being with Leeds for as long as I can and competing for trophies and stuff like that with Leeds. That’s all I really think about and hopefully playing for England at a senior level too.”
Archie Gray, he’s one of our own at Leeds United
Is there a better academy product to come out of Thorp Arch this century? You could make an argument that the answer is no.
From playing in midfield at the start of the season to transitioning to the first-choice right-back at the club, Gray has impressed every time he’s got on the pitch and he continues to get better.
His performance against Chelsea in the FA Cup in his natural midfield role was exceptional for someone his age and it’s no surprise that top teams are being linked with his signature.
However we all know that Gray is Leeds through and through due to his family links with the history of this club, and it seems that he is very focused at this stage on developing in Yorkshire.
There is no rush for him to move on, even if Leeds don’t get promoted this season, because he is so young and playing regularly and that is the best thing for his development. This can only be good news for the club.
