Archie Gray reacts as yet another new Leeds United exit is confirmed

Archie Gray has reacted to the news that Jamie Shackleton has departed Leeds United at the end of his contract.

The Englishman has taken to Instagram (4 July) to share the news that he is departing Elland Road after 17 years with the club.

Another recently departed Whites star, Gray has commented on the 24-year-old’s post saying: “What a guy.”

Shackelton has now completed a move to Sheffield United which has been confirmed by the Blades on Thursday (4 July).

Jamie Shackleton leaves Leeds United

The Englishman is clearly upset to be departing Elland Road but the deal is one that seemingly makes sense for all parties.

Shackleton played a versatile role under Marcelo Bielsa in his spell at the club but has struggled to make a true impact since the Argentine’s departure.

This has seen him spend time out on loan with Milwall where he made a somewhat positive impression before returning to Leeds.

Even with the Whites in the Championship, the 24-year-old only featured in 15 games across all competitions [FotMob] which isn’t enough for him.

With Gray departing for Tottenham and Shackleton now following him out of the exit door at Elland Road, it is a frustrating time for fans to see academy prospects depart.

These deals will see Daniel Farke forced into making moves in the summer transfer window to bring in some suitable replacements.

Shackleton needed to depart for his reasons but a deal may also suit Leeds next season in terms of having a more balanced squad.
