Anton Stach has quietly done something with Leeds nobody has managed since 2019
Anton Stach has made an excellent start to life at Leeds United.
Stach joined Leeds from Hoffenheim this summer for £17.4million, as Daniel Farke looked to strengthen his side ahead of their Premier League return.
While Leeds’ transfer business was scrutinised after no business was done on deadline day, their recruitment at the start of the window has already borne fruit.
Lukas Nmecha scored in Leeds’ 1-0 victory over Everton, while Stach has ranked second for chances created behind Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes.
The midfielder has been excellent in Leeds‘ first three games, and his creativity has seen him do something not seen in six years.

Anton Stach has created three or more chances a game
Stach has been one of Leeds’ only creative outlets so far this season, as evidenced by the fact that they have only scored once in the league, which came from the penalty spot.
The German has created at least three chances in every game so far this season, and even created four chances in the win over Everton, as Leeds dominated the Toffees at Elland Road.
As a result, Stach has become the first player to create three or more chances in each of his first three Premier League games since Emi Buendia did it for Norwich City back in August 2019.
Coincidentally, Daniel Farke has been in charge on both occasions, showing that the German’s attacking brand of football is benefiting his new signing.
Leeds need to start finishing these chances
For all the good work that Stach is doing in the heart of midfield, the simple facts are that Leeds are struggling to score goals.
The signing of Dominic Calvert-Lewin is not working to the desired effect for Farke, while Noah Okafor is still awaiting his first Premier League start.
Leeds United 25/26 | Total |
Expected goals | 3.0 |
Shots on target per 90 | 1.7 |
Goals | 1 |
The Yorkshire side’s offensive issues are not the fault of Stach, and Leeds need to find someone to put the chances away, or it will be a quick return to the Championship.
