Angus Kinnear shares points tally needed in new Leeds United relegation reveal

Angus Kinnear believes 36 points may be enough for Leeds United to avoid Premier League relegation.

Adam Pope expects 38 to be the number the Whites may need to hit to secure survival in the English top flight.

However, the West Yorkshire outfit’s former CEO has told the BBC Sports journalist that the Peacocks may need just five more points to continue playing in the Premier League next season.

As things stand, Daniel Farke’s team are 15th in the league table, with 18th-place West Ham United six points behind them.

Daniel Farke to be frustrated after what’s happened at Leeds United

Leeds dropped two crucial points against Villa after a late equaliser from Tammy Abraham, with the ball going into the back of the net off his knee.

The Whites took the lead through Anton Stach, whose brilliant free-kick caught everyone out at Villa Park.

Nottingham Forest and Tottenham are also trailing the West Yorkshire outfit in the Premier League, but Farke will surely be worried about the away form.

The Peacocks have registered just one win in 14 games away from Elland Road, and that’s something the German manager has to address in the final stretch of the season.

Leeds have a tough game against Manchester City on 28 February, and a positive result at home will surely give fans in LS11 more confidence about avoiding the drop.

Speaking on Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet on 23 February, Pope said, “I’m going to stick with 38. I was chatting to Kinnear the other week, he was thinking that maybe 36 would be enough.”

Elland Road change needed for Manchester City fixture

Brenden Aaronson had an off day against Villa, with the USA international unable to make any impact in the 1-1 draw.

Ilia Gruev also had an off day, but Farke may need to stick with him in the middle of the park to provide defensive solidity against Man City.

It would make sense for the German manager to replace Aaronson with Lukas Nmecha, who has looked like a consistent goal threat in recent matches.

The former Wolfsburg forward’s partnership with Dominic Calvert-Lewin may be what’s required for the West Yorkshire outfit to get the better of Pep Guardiola in LS11.
