Angus Kinnear reveals that Leeds United are set to announce a couple more contracts

Leeds United CEO Angus Kinnear has revealed that the club expect to announce a couple of new contracts this week.

Speaking to the Square Ball podcast, Kinnear revealed that the Whites were going to tie down more core players before the 2021/22 Premier League season gets underway.

Leeds have already handed new deals to Tyler Roberts and Stuart Dallas this year, and it appears as if a few more players could also seal their long-term futures this week.

He said: “There should be a couple more announced across the next few days.

“It really reinforces the strategy that we have had from the moment we got promoted, which was to retain the core of the talent that we have and get those players on long-term contracts and ensure they’re committed to Leeds.”

Leeds continue to reward their core players!

Kinnear doesn’t mention which players are the ones in line for new deals, but he does seem to suggest that they are players who were with the Whites in the Championship.

Therefore, the likes of Patrick Bamford, Luke Ayling or even Kalvin Phillips could be in line for new contracts.

We are excited to see who will be given a new contract and will closely watch developments in the next few days.

It is hard to argue that the likes of Bamford and Ayling don’t deserve new deals, so we hope that at least one of those is handed a new contract by the Whites.

Leeds are clearly keen to keep the bulk of the squad from the 2019/20 season, and it is fantastic to see these loyal and committed players rewarded by the club.
