Angus Kinnear hoping clubs will join Leeds in taking ‘exceptional measures’ to put this first
Angus Kinnear is hoping that other Championship clubs will join Leeds United in taking exceptional measures to put football first.
The Whites chief executive revealed that the 24 clubs in the second tier are still sharing the idea that they want the final nine games of the season concluded.
Leeds are currently top of the league, but there is a real shared hope that this is still the right thing to do during this break.
Kinnear was speaking about all the problems brought along by the enforced break and hoped that the Championship would be ready to return eventually.
“I have to say, collectively, certainly in the Championship, there’s a real belief that’s the right thing to do,” he told Sky Sports’ football show as quoted by the official website.
“I’m hoping that in these exceptional circumstances that clubs and leagues will take exceptional measures to put football first.”
There have been many different updates on when and if the current season can return, with Leeds nine games away from the Premier League.
It was reported by The Telegraph on Thursday morning that over 66,000 tests for all players and staff, meaning that there are fresh fears over whether it is safe to bring back football.
That was thrown into the dirt by Sun journalist Alan Nixon who claimed he had also seen the numbers and it was described as a scare story based on nothing more than hot air – something which could give hope back to Championship clubs.
