Ange Postecoglou 'imminent' exit verdict at Celtic from Graham Spiers amid Leeds United speculation
The Times’ Graham Spiers believes Ange Postecoglou isn’t going to be leaving Celtic anytime soon despite being linked to the Leeds United job.
The Daily Record suggest (9 February) the 57-year-old is still a candidate for the vacant job at Elland Road after Leeds missed out on Rayo Vallecano boss Andoni Iraola.
Spiers has since revealed the Australian won’t be leaving Celtic imminently after only taking up the role at Park Head in 2021.
Spiers said (Press Box podcast, 12m 28s): “We all seem to be holding the view that Ange Postecoglou is not going to go anywhere imminent. He’s not going to leave Celtic. He’ll want to do more time. You never say never but that’s what I think.”
Make the move
At present, it feels as if Leeds aren’t close to appointing a new manager and a move for Postecoglou shouldn’t be ruled out. Considering their luckless search to date, an approach to test the water could certainly be worth the board’s time and effort.

The Australian knows the pressures of managing a huge club and also utilises an extremely eye-catchinh and expansive brand of attacking football. He’s a good fit for the Elland Road hot seat but there are serious doubts over whether he would leave Glasgow at the moment.
He has been linked to other Premier League jobs and remained unhinged. However, Leeds are one of the UK’s most historical and famous clubs, which could lead to some success if they did try and test Celtic.
An appointment simply has to be made by the start of next week, to give the new boss a week to work with the players before the must-win fixture against Everton at Goodison Park (18 February).
