Andy Hinchcliffe loses mind with Brentford man after 'horrible' Brenden Aaronson moment in Leeds draw v Brentford

Sky Sports pundit Andy Hinchcliffe delivered a scathing assessment of Mathias Jensen after the Brentford midfielder fouled Brenden Aaronson in the first half of the Bees’ draw against Leeds United.

Jensen gave the ball away in a dangerous area in the lead-up to a foul right on the edge of the visitor’s box.

Hinchcliffe was less than impressed with the Brentford man and also suggested Aaronson tried to dive into the box to win Leeds a penalty.

“They win the ball back Brentford and then give it away cheaply. Mathias Jensen that’s a horrible pass he’s trying to play forward and that’s why Norgaard is the wrong side of Aaronson,” said Hinchcliffe (Sky Sports commentary, 2:12, 22 January).

“He’s the wrong side of Aaronson but you’ve seen the contact is outsight and Aaronson dives into the box thinking he can get a penalty, but it’s poor from Brentford.”

The 0-0 draw is yet another disappointment for the Elland Road faithful. The Whites are sleep-walking towards the relegation zone and it’s up to Jesse Marsch to find a tune out of these players, and quickly. Brentford are an impressive side, but Leeds simply need to be more inventive in the final third.

Too often they played into the Bees’ hands and made life extremely easy for them defensively. On the face of it, a point against an in-form team is not a bad result for Leeds – but considering the urgent requirement for points, a win was a must.

Marsch has been heavily backed since arriving at the club and he has nowhere to hide when it comes to the performances on the pitch.

This is his group of players and he’s now responsible for getting a consistent Premier League tune out of them. The longer Leeds go without a win the more questions will begin to be asked of the American.
