Andy Hinchcliffe furious at ‘shocking’ Leeds United after what happened in 5-1 loss v Crystal Palace

Sky Sports commentator Andy Hinchcliffe was left furious with Leeds United after their “shocking” defending for the third Crystal Palace goal in a 5-1 defeat.

Javi Gracia’s side took the lead through Patrick Bamford but were battered in the second half as goals from Jordan Ayew (2), Ebere Eze, Odsonne Edouard added to Marc Guehi’s first-half equaliser.

But while appearing on Sky Sports as a commentator for the game (9 April, 15:13), Hinchcliffe reacted with anger at the way the Whites defended for Eze’s goal that took the game away from the hosts.

“Two of Palace’s bright young things combine, but defensively Leeds, this is shocking,” he said.

“No Leeds player tracks him. They’re all caught watching the ball. That is a huge goal in the Premier League race for survival.”

Poor

We’ve all heard the term “game of two halves” but what we saw on Sunday at Elland Road was the absolute epitome of that.

The first half performance was excellent up until the moment Guehi scored on the stroke of half-time, and in the second half it was as if the team never recovered.

Leeds United

We were slow to everything, beaten in almost every duel, lacked intensity and lacked real quality to hurt them and got punished for it.

The third goal summed the performance up really as they carved through us like a hot knife through butter and we could do absolutely nothing to stop it.

It has to improve and quickly if we want to secure our Premier League status before the season gets to a point where it’s out of our hands, because we don’t want a repeat of last season where it goes to the final day and we need help.

In other Leeds news, player ratings from the defeat to Palace as one ace stinks out Elland Road with a 1/10.
