Andy Couzens appears to have conspiracy theory about Leeds goalkeeper Casilla ban
Former Leeds United midfielder Andy Couzens has blasted the FA over their decision to hit Kiko Casilla with an eight-match ban.
On Friday, it was confirmed that Casilla, 33, had been fined £60,000 and handed a lengthy ban after a charge of racist abuse was found to be proven.
The charge is in relation to an incident which happened when Leeds lost 1-0 against Charlton at The Valley on September 28 when Jonathan Leko accused Casilla of racial abuse towards him.
Couzens is baffled as to how long it has taken the FA to conclude their investigation into Leko’s claim and has a conspiracy theory about why it’s happened.
“Why wasn’t this all done back in September when the allegations were put forward? Or is this that Leeds are doing well and we don’t want you to get promotion? This just brings us all closer together,” said Couzens via his personal Twitter account in the early hours of Saturday morning.
It has taken a very long time for the FA to close this matter and that does not look good on them at all.
It cannot have been nice for Casilla to have this looming over his head for six months while Leko will surely have also wanted the case to be wrapped up a lot sooner than it did.
Until the FA release all of their findings next week, it is hard to say much more until then but the fact that Couzens is suggesting that there are efforts going on to keep Leeds in the Championship is laughable.
Haven’t a lot of Leeds fans been calling for Casilla to be dropped for most of the season? They now have their wish for the next eight games where Illan Meslier will most likely start.
As if him being hit with an eight-match ban is going to have a major impact on the Whites’ push for automatic promotion.
And even then, this matter was dealt with by the FA, not the EFL.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has detailed whether Leeds can sign a new goalkeeper on an emergency loan after Casilla was banned.
