Andrea Radrizzani will make Leeds United manager call after Southampton match, with Michael Skubala talks done

Andrea Radrizzani will decide on who will manage Leeds United until the end of the season after the club’s upcoming match against Southampton, with Michael Skubala already told he could remain in charge, according to 90min.

The Leeds majority owner is set to start making his decision on February 26, the day after the crunch clash against the Saints at Elland Road, and is ideally reluctant to hire a short-term manager till the end of the season following Jesse Marsch’s sacking.

Skubala has taken a point from his opening two Premier League fixtures against Manchester United as interim boss and will lead The Whites against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, 18 February.

The 90min report said: “Leeds United have told interim boss Michael Skubala he could remain in charge until the end of the season, 90min understands.

“It’s understood Radrizzani will assess the situation after Leeds’ crunch clash with Southampton at the end of February, but he would ideally like to avoid appointing a temporary manager just to stave off relegation.”

In the balance.

The results Skubala leads the Whites to in the relegation six-pointers against Everton and Southampton will ultimately decide whether he will lead the team for the remainder of the season.

Against two sides who currently languish beneath the club in the relegation zone, Leeds will be hoping to gain at least four points from the two games and propel themselves up the table.

The likes of Nottingham Forest have shown how a brief run of form can help stave off relegation fears from within the fanbase, and Radrizzani will be praying Skubala can mastermind some short-term success.

If the club had to resort to a temporary manager, it would simply be seen as a terribly planned sacking of Marsch. They have already come under pressure for the dreadful and sporadic search for his successor, and Victor Orta and Radrizzani could yet feel more pressure from supporters if things take a turn for the worse on the pitch.
