Andrea Radrizzani will have final say on Javi Gracia sack at Leeds United – Phil Hay

Leeds United are considering Javi Gracia’s position as head coach at the club after the defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday, as reported by Phil Hay for The Athletic.

It is thought that chairman Andrea Radrizzani will have the final say on the future of the Spaniard, with the 49ers Enterprises not mentioned.

Only four games remain for the Whites to avoid relegation to the Championship, with the team on a wretched run of form, without a win in the last five games.

The latest developments on the situation were reported on Monday afternoon by Hay, which will come as no surprise to the Elland Road faithful.

“Gracia was only appointed at Leeds in February but has won just three of his 11 games, with Leeds still deep in relegation trouble,” he stated.

“The 52-year-old’s position is now under discussion, with the Leeds board debating whether to make another change with just four games remaining as they seek to try and preserve their Premier League status.

“Chairman Andrea Radrizzani would have any final say over Gracia’s future.”

Now or never

‘Marching on Together’ is the club anthem but it could well be time for the club and Gracia to go their separate ways.

Would it be harsh? Not really, given that he is most likely to leave at the end of the campaign anyway but the most pressing matter is that he appears unable to do anything about the Whites’ current freefall.

Doing nothing could be a bigger gamble than pulling the trigger now. Radrizzani may be thinking that the club has more to lose, than the chances of gaining a turnaround in form, by persisting with the current coaching set-up

If someone else comes in to oversee the run-in, there is the chance of the players responding or finding a different level on the pitch compared to the recent output under the former Watford boss.

He is a lame duck at present, with Leeds also seemingly in freefall toward a return to the second tier of English football.

Something has to give very soon.
