Andrea Radrizzani wants Stuart Webber to replace Victor Orta at Leeds United as 49ers stance shared

Andrea Radrizzani wants Norwich City sporting director Stuart Webber to replace Victor Orta at Leeds United, according to Leeds All Over.

Orta was relieved of his duties on Tuesday 2 May after spending nearly six years at Elland Road and masterminding the club’s return to the Premier League.

Leeds All Over now claim on Friday 5 May, that Webber is high on the Italian’s wishlist of potential successors to Orta.

It’s believed Radrizzani is a keen admirer of the Welshman who has overseen a number of promotions at Carrow Road.

It’s understood the appointment hinges on the 49ers’ takeover at Elland Road, with the American enterprises potentially looking to make their own appointment.

Interesting

The sporting director role needs filling, and fast. Orta’s departure was unexpected but required. The Spaniard’s decisions over the past year were nothing short of disgraceful. He’s cost Radrizzani a lot of money and potentially the club’s Premier League status.

Jesse Marsch should never have been given the job. Javi Gracia’s contract was daft and now the club has been left with Sam Allardyce at the helm. It’s a complete mess and Orta’s chaotic personality and way of working haven’t helped in the slightest.

A calmer presence is required at the top of the club. Football decisions are vital as Leeds have learnt during the 2022/23 season. Their next appointment is one they cannot afford to get wrong.

Webber has worked at Norwich for a long time and knows what’s needed to get a team out of the Championship. This could well be Radrizzani preparing for the worst if the West Yorkshire side do return to the second tier.
