Andrea Radrizzani to give Matheus Cunha parting gift to Leeds United as takeover date gets closer

We all know Leeds United need to add a striker to their ranks in the summer window, with Patrick Bamford struggling for form in the first half of the season.

The Englishman has failed to hit the back of the net in the Premier League in the 2022/23 season and certainly looks to be past his best years. Rodrigo has been superb so far with nine goals, but Jesse Marsch will be acutely aware of the need for another forward to join the club in the winter window.

Matheus Cunha has been the latest player to be linked with the Yorkshire side, with The Athletic’s Phil Hay detailing Leeds’ previous interest in his latest column (6 December). However, one issue could arise with Hay suggesting the striker could be available for around £15million.

After Leeds’ busy summer of spending, it’s unclear whether the board would be able to finance such a move, but Andrea Radrizzani could feel obliged to give Leeds fans a parting gift as he looks set to step aside at Elland Road.

MOT Leeds News has exclusively been told (20 November) that the 49ers could take control of the club much sooner than expected, with a full takeover needing to be triggered by the end of January 2023.

So this could well be the Italian’s last transfer window in charge of the club, and he could well be inclined to potentially have one more roll of the dice.

The Elland Road faithful will certainly be hoping for Radrizzani to delve into his pockets one more time and fund the relatively small fee for Cunha.

Things haven’t worked out in the Spanish capital for the Brazilian, but, at 23, he could well discover his impressive form from his Hertha Berlin days and prove to be a real hit for Leeds.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are now scouting an attacker at the World Cup and a January move appears to be on the cards for them.
