Andrea Radrizzani takeover of Sampdoria at risk as 49ers Enterprises close in on Leeds United

Andrea Radrizzani’s proposed takeover of Sampdoria is said to be at risk, as the 49ers Enterprises entity closes in on a Leeds United takeover, as reported by Gianluca Di Marzio.

It has been reported that “there is no definitive agreement” between all parties involved in the deal with the Italian club in significant financial danger.

The 49ers, existing minority owners of Leeds, are waiting to complete a deal at Elland Road but relegation from the Premier League has delayed matters in an already complicated saga.

The latest developments in Italy were relayed by Di Marzio, including a four-point deduction that awaits the Genoa club in Serie B next season.

“Sampdoria is still at risk, there is no definitive agreement between all parties for the sale of the club to Radrizzani,” he said.

“Despite the economic agreement found between Massimo Ferrero (existing owner) and Radrizzani, the situation of Sampdoria is still very complex. In fact, the final agreement in all aspects has yet to be reached between the parties.

“The capital (bid) increase was only the first, albeit fundamental, step towards the salvation of the company, but now the definition of the crisis restructuring plan is needed, so that it can then be filed in court. If the parties fail to agree, Sampdoria would be close to bankruptcy.”

Resolution

This is the last thing that Leeds fans want to hear.

It is one thing after another, with external issues affecting the chances of progress at Elland Road.

The supporters are crying out for a new manager and something to believe in, on the pitch, but that is obviously affected by matters in the boardroom and the ongoing wrangle for control of the club.

It can be assumed that once the Sampdoria situation is resolved, that would allow a resolution to be found in West Yorkshire but for now, everyone is left in a state of limbo with so much to be put in place ahead of the club’s return to the Championship.

Radrizzani is continuing to display contempt for Leeds and the major stakeholders, including the fans, but for now, it’s a case of waiting, with chief executive officer Angus Kinnear effectively running the show on behalf of the absent Italian.
