Andrea Radrizzani shares three-word tweet after what happened at Leeds United this week

Andrea Radrizzani has congratulated the Leeds United Under-16s after they won the Premier League National Shield.

On Monday (24 October), LUFC Youth shared an image of the Under-16s squad after they’d beaten Watford 5-0 at the Loughborough University Stadium.

Leeds chairman Radrizzani took to his personal Twitter account on Thursday morning (27 October) to tweet about it and relay that image.

He said: “Well done boys.”

Future is bright

Leeds have always had one of the best academies in the country.

However, it seems that there’s a move by Victor Orta to start recruiting top youngsters from outside of Leeds instead of developing from within.

Out of the current young stars making their work up through the ranks at Leeds, not many of them are born and bred in this area with the exception of someone like Charlie Cresswell.

Joe Gelhardt, Crysencio Summerville, Sam Greenwood and Pascal Struijk have all proven themselves in Leeds’ Under-23s before making the move to the senior team.

However, they’re not local lads who’ve been with Leeds for years.

There is potential in this area.

We’ve seen it with Kalvin Phillips most recently while someone like Cresswell, who is currently on loan at Millwall, might have an international future with England if he meets expectations.

We hope that a few of the Under-16s players who played in that win over Watford can eventually make the step up to the Under-21s and then, eventually, the senior side.

It might be some years before we see that happen but Leeds fans love a wonderkid.

We just hope that Orta signing players from elsewhere in the UK or across Europe doesn’t stifle this bunch.

In other Leeds United news, Jesse Marsch has this many games to save his job at Elland Road.
