Andrea Radrizzani sends Twitter message to 'another' new Leeds signing

Andrew Radrizzani has welcomed Sam Greenwood to Leeds United after the striker’s arrival from Arsenal was confirmed on Friday.

Leeds announced via their official Twitter account and official website that Greenwood, 18, has agreed a three-year deal with the Yorkshire giants after an undisclosed fee was agreed with the Gunners.

Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath reported earlier this week that Leeds are paying an initial £1.5million for the England Under-18 international, which could rise to £3million.

Now that the deal has been made official, Leeds chief Radrizzani has taken to social media to react to the youngster’s arrival.

“Welcome Sam. Another great addition to our youth team. The future is bright at Leeds,” wrote the Leeds owner via his personal Twitter account on Friday morning.

Greenwood is unlikely to get any first-team action for Leeds next season with Rodrigo set to join the Whites from Valencia in a club-record deal.

Patrick Bamford, Tyler Roberts and fellow new arrival Joe Gelhardt are also likely to be ahead of Greenwood in the striker pecking order for Marcelo Bielsa.

However, Greenwood only turned 18 at the start of this year and only just started to break into Under-23s football at Arsenal last season.

There is plenty of time for him to develop and we’re sure that Leeds’ Under-23s coaching staff will be able to pick up where the Gunners left off in their development of the former Sunderland striker.

Greenwood could have a big future at Elland Road.

We just hope that he keeps his head down, trains hard, stays fit and makes the most of any opportunities he might get over the next few years at the club.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have tabled a huge bid for this centre-back.
