Andrea Radrizzani sends message to Tyler Roberts after Leeds win v Southampton

Tyler Roberts finally scored his first Premier League goal for Leeds United in their 2-0 win over Southampton on Tuesday evening.

It has been a long-time coming for the Welsh international, who let his emotions pour out at St Mary’s, celebrating with great passion.

Marcelo Bielsa was also visibly delighted for the young attacker, who took the finish with great composure having looked like he had ruined the chance.

Roberts shared a post on his personal Instagram account late last night, sharing that he always had faith it would come this season.

No surprise that it was flooded with congratulatory messages, with one even coming from the owner Andrea Radrizzani, who must be delighted with his team.

“Amen,” he simply wrote.

Amen, indeed.

Good things certainly come to those who wait, but we all didn’t expect to be waiting this long to see Roberts hit the back of the net in the Premier League.

The young Welshman has had plenty of opportunities to do it, including that clear chance against Liverpool which could have given us all three points at Elland Road.

Bielsa has stuck by Roberts this season though, and there are clear signs of improvements in his game that give us hope he can become a serious player for the Whites.

It hasn’t been an easy run of fixtures that he has started in, but he has certainly impressed against the likes of Spurs and Manchester City, and this goal is his reward.

Contract talks will be needed soon, and Roberts is doing himself no harm in picking up a new deal at Elland Road to secure his future in West Yorkshire.
