Andrea Radrizzani news as Sampdoria offer rejected in Leeds United twist

Andrea Radrizzani’s bid for Sampdoria has been rejected as it stands, with a further meeting set to take place on Monday 29 May, as reported by Gianluca Di Marzio.

In what is a significant setback for Radrizzani, with consequences for Leeds United, the preliminary agreement to acquire the Genoa-based club has not resulted in completion so far.

The current Whites supremo is expected to sell his stake at Elland Road to the 49ers Enterprises in order to fund his plans for Sampdoria, who were relegated to Serie B in recent weeks.

The report from the Italian outlet detailed the latest on the Sampdoria situation, including a statement from Radrizzani, with the club’s future far from secure.

“We are truly sorry and disappointed that our offer has been exploited to satisfy the needs of others or to reopen negotiations,” he said.

“We want to emphasise that we have worked tirelessly, in a discreet and respectful way towards management and the team, to ensure the continuity of this club.”

Impasse

This is the last thing that Leeds fans want to hear today.

With Radrizzani posted missing at Elland Road as the club was relegated to the Championship, there is an obvious void that would normally be filled with a sense of direction and purpose but given the takeover situation at the club, the wait for meaningful action continues.

49ers Enterprises, as current significant minority shareholders in the club, will be aware that they too are affected by the current impasse. They will have plans of their own, following the certainty that was provided on the pitch on Sunday afternoon, so hopefully, things will start moving very soon.

Without Radrizzani’s full departure, the malaise will continue and time is of the essence with the need to rebuild the squad and much of the club overall for the new campaign in the Championship.

The Whites’ supporters are eagerly awaiting the next development on what happens next, on and off the pitch.

In other Leeds United news, David Prutton offered his assessment on the “ultimate slap in the face” to the club’s fans.
