Andrea Radrizzani could agree bonuses as cheap Leeds United takeover option emerges for 49ers Enterprises

Andrea Radrizzani may have the option to agree a cheap sale of Leeds United to the 49ers Enterprises if the club get relegated in return for bonuses if they later regain their Premier League status, according to the Daily Mail.

The Daily Mail earlier reported (19 April) that Radrizzani is facing losses of £270million if the Whites are relegated with the initial deal struck with the 49ers takeover based on the club being established in the top flight.

The 49ers, who currently own a 44% share of Leeds, don’t want to pay more than £150million for a Championship club, with different options on the table potentially.

“The 49ers option to buy expires halfway through next season so in the event of relegation Radrizzani would have to renegotiate the deal if he opted to wait for Leeds to regain Premier League status,” the Daily Mail wrote.

“Another option open would be to agree to a cheap sale in return for securing bonuses if Leeds are subsequently promoted.

“Leeds are deep in trouble following Monday’s 6-1 defeat by Liverpool, just two points above the bottom three.”

Time for change

Although Radrizzani may currently be worried about the huge losses he could make if Leeds get relegated to the Championship, the focus should be on getting it right on the pitch.

The amount that the owner makes in selling to the 49ers is the least of Leeds’ worries right now.

Radrizzani has run his course at Elland Road and the fact that links have arisen about him buying Inter Milan shows that he already has one foot out of the door.

If he has indeed checked out, such a deal with future bonuses for promotion back to the Premier League makes complete sense.

The 48-year-old can move on from Leeds United, possibly invest in the Italian giants, and get further bonuses later down the line after the 49ers pump their own money into the club.

It looks like Radrizzani is going to be leaving the club in the summer, even if Javi Gracia’s side face relegation over the coming weeks, and a new chapter of Leeds United can be started in the process.
