Andrea Radrizzani breaks silence on Leeds United manager search after Carlos Corberan snub

Andrea Radrizzani has once again spoken out as the search for Jesse Marsch’s replacement at Leeds United continues.

The Whites were dealt a blow on Tuesday evening after number one target Carlos Corberan signed a contract extension at West Brom (90min, 7 February).

Radrizzani had previously suggested (via Twitter, 7 February) that Leeds’ quest for a new head coach would reach a conclusion on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning.

However, no announcement has been made and the Whites owner has now suggested that “more time” is required.

“Not yet [no imminent appointment] ..need more time. Let’s support the lads now. Keep you posted,” said Radrizzani (via Twitter, 8 February) in response to a question from a fan.

Right appointment

Although time is always of the essence in modern-day football, ensuring the right appointment is made is absolutely essential.

This squad desperately needs reorganisation to turn their poor form around. Potentially a more experienced manager, who knows the Premier League, would give the Yorkshire side the best chance of survival.

However, that would come with a risk, particularly in the long term. Clubs don’t want to go through cycles of hiring and firing managers, and it’s important that the next appointment is made with an eye to the future.

Andoni Iraola has been heavily linked to the job after working wonders with Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.

He would come in the Marcelo Bielsa mould, and would certainly provide an exciting brand of football. However, it may not be what the Whites need right now.

Leeds were caught out far too many times under Marsch, particularly when they were attacking and that’s something which will need to be rectified by whoever takes the Elland Road job.
