Andoni Iraola rejects Leeds United offer just before kick-off v Manchester United – Spanish journalist
Andoni Iraola has rejected an offer from Leeds United after being made the club’s number one target to replace Jesse Marsch, according to Raul Granado.
According to Football Espana (8 February), Victor Orta had already flown to Spain to hold talks with the 40-year-old, who is currently the manager of Rayo Vallecano.
However, Granado, who is a journalist for Onda Cero, has claimed that Iraola will now stay at the La Liga club after rejecting the chance to join the Premier League club.
“Andoni Iraola says no to the offer from Leeds and stays at Rayo Vallecano to fulfil his contract,” he wrote (via Twitter, 8 February).
Nightmare
This will come as a huge blow to the board after appeared the Rayo Vallecano manager would be the Whites’ new head coach. With Carlos Corberan also rejecting the chance to return to Elland Road, it’s been a disappointing couple of days for the board.
They must ensure they keep to their task and appoint a manager before their Premier League clash against Manchester United on Sunday (12 February). It’s slightly concerning that two of Leeds’ first choices have now rejected the chance to move to West Yorkshire.

Could there be an issue with the terms they’re being offered? The Elland Road faithful will be hoping the board aren’t playing hard to get when it comes to contract offers and lengths of deals. A rethink is certainly required and it’s hard to predict who Leeds look to next when it comes to their manager hunt.
Feyenoord boss Arne Slot is another name who is in contention and it will be interesting to see if he now becomes a front-runner.
