Andoni Iraola informs Rayo Vallecano he wants Leeds United job, Victor Orta in talks over compensation fee
Andoni Iraola has told Rayo Vallecano he wants to leave and take up the vacant managerial position at Leeds United, according to The Mirror.
Spanish journalist Raul Granado had claimed (via Twitter, 8 February) that the 40-year had turned down the opportunity to move to the Premier League.
However, The Mirror report (page 59, 9 February) that Victor Orta is still in constant talks with the La Liga club as he bids to thrash out a compensation package.

Conflicting
It seems some clarity is required when it comes to Leeds’ manager search at present. Iraola is the board’s top candidate, but whether he wants to take the job at Elland Road is the question that needs answering.
The draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford has certainly earned the board a little more time when it comes to appointing a manager. Nobody expected Leeds to gain anything from the fixture against Erik ten Hag’s side.

In fact, the Whites will be disappointed to have not come away from Manchester with all three points considering they were two goals up early on in the second half. The performance will see the confidence grow ahead of Sunday’s fixture and could see Michael Skubala remain in the dugout for one more match.
Another positive result at the weekend could see Leeds head into the crunch clashes against Everton and Southampton fancying their chances of picking up at least four points. With the manager hunt dragging on, it would not be a surprise to see an appointment made after the weekend, with the trip to Everton not until Saturday 15 February.
