American media reacts to Leeds United loanee Brenden Aaronson display in USA v Uzbekistan
Leeds United loanee Brenden Aaronson played for the USA in their victory over Uzbekistan on Saturday (9 September).
The 22-year-old, who is currently on loan at Union Berlin, came off the bench in the 67th minute to set up a goal as his side claimed a 3-0 win in the friendly over the Central Asian outfit.
The midfielder was joined in the American team by former Whites loanee Weston McKennie, with the goals coming from Timothy Weah, Ricardo Pepi and Christian Pulisic.

US news outlets have since reacted to Aaronson’s performance, with the MLS Soccer website saying he brought a “spark of energy” as he notched the assist for the second goal with a “tidy little pass” on the edge of the box.
NBC Sports wasn’t quite as impressed by the midfielder as it said he was a bit “herky-jerky” and “out of control” as he failed to complete a dribble and lost out in most of his duels.
ESPN didn’t say too much about the American’s display, as it only highlighted that he brought his “trademark energy” as he went on to set up Pepi’s goal in the 91st minute at the CityPark Stadium in Missouri.
As expected
It won’t really come as too much of a surprise to hear that Aaronson’s main contribution to the game was that he brought plenty of energy.
The midfielder showed that during his time at Elland Road last season, but he was largely ineffectual in the final third as he registered just one goal and three assists in 40 appearances.
He will have been pleased to have picked up an assist for the US, though, as he looks to fight for a place in the national team’s starting lineup.

It didn’t come as too much of a surprise that Aaronson wasn’t included from the start after he’s had a largely unconvincing opening few games with Union Berlin.
The midfielder has featured in three matches, but he was sent off in a recent Bundesliga game against Darmstadt after just 21 minutes to potentially put him out of favour in the German capital.
In other Leeds United news, one player could be on his way out of Elland Road after he was snubbed against Sheffield Wednesday.
