American media floored as Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams captains side to World Cup knockout rounds

Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams made headlines once again but this time it was for his performances on the pitch.

The 23-year-old captained the United States side to a 1-0 win over Iran at the World Cup and deservedly got all the plaudits for an incredible display.

The Americans made it to the Round of 16 where they will face the Netherlands and Adams has been given plenty of credit by the media in his home country.

Yahoo journalist Henry Bushnell wrote, “Tyler Adams immediately fell to his knees. Totally gassed. Totally heroic. USMNT through to the knockout rounds.”

Atlantic writer Clint Smith took to Twitter to write, “I can’t say enough about how good Tyler Adams has been during this World Cup. Three massive performances. Our best and most consistent player.

Kanas-based reporter Daniel Sperry then gave a statistical look to his display, “Tyler Adams is really that dude. He was everywhere, and his distribution was fantastic. 62/69 passes completed and 12 ball recoveries. Just phenomenal from the captain.”

Stock on the rise

Few would’ve known of Adams before he moved to Elland Road but now the only ones that have not heard of him are living under a rock.

He made headlines once for his dignified response to the Iranian journalist and he’s done it again, but let his football do the talking.

It was another stunning display from the 23-year-old and his stock continues to rise as he’s now Leeds’ most-talked-about players.

We do not think he will be leaving at the end of the season as some in the media think as he’s got a head coach who perfectly understands his game.

He’s also fully bought into the Jesse Marsch style of football and he would consider it too hasty to leave after one good season in the Premier League.

Adams deserves to be protected at all costs and perhaps even given a leadership role as he’s proven he can do that exceptionally well.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are now scouting an attacker at the World Cup and a January move appears to be on the cards for them.
