Ally McCoist has admitted he thinks Ipswich will pick up the four points required to see them reach automatic promotion ahead of Leeds United, starting against Coventry on 30 April.

Ipswich will travel to the Ricoh Arena knowing a win would put them one step closer to their promotion dream after both they and Leeds suffered dips in form of late.

This comes after Leicester City secured the title with a 3-0 win against Preston on 29 April, leaving the second automatic promotion spot up for grabs.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [30 April, 06:06], McCoist shared: "They've dipped a little bit recently, but so have Leeds, to be honest with you.

"I've got a sneaky feeling they'll win tonight. It'll be a real challenge for the Coventry players to 100 per cent get themselves up for it after the blows they've had. It'll be an interesting watch.

"I definitely think they'll get their four points and I'm convinced they'll get at least one of them tonight."

Ipswich face Coventry as Leeds United promotion place up for grabs

Ipswich's visit to Coventry could be decisive for both themselves and Leeds. They will know a win sets them up to secure promotion with a draw on the final day regardless of Leeds' result, but a draw means they may need to win.

Leeds, meanwhile, know that the end of the season remains out of their hands as things stand. They will need to win their clash with Southampton unless Ipswich lose both of their games, but four points will swing the position for the Tractor Boys regardless.

Simon Jordan has warned that, as a result of their recent form, the playoffs will appear a daunting prospect for Daniel Farke's team as the team with more momentum behind them typically comes out on top.

However, even if they are promoted, Ray Parlour has warned that they should prepare to go straight back down again after what has happened to Sheffield United, Burnley and Luton Town this season.
