Ally McCoist recalls unbelievable Leeds memory live on BT Sports

Ally McCoist has recalled his memories of Leeds United in Europe while live on BT Sports on Thursday evening.

Darrell Currie was quizzing the Scottish icon on the best atmospheres he has ever heard at Ibrox, and he immediately mentioned the Whites.

Leeds lost both legs to Rangers that year, both finishing 2-1 with McCoist himself finding the back of the net in those games.

Speaking on BT Sports live on Thursday evening, McCoist recalled the memory ahead of Rangers’ clash with Brondby.

“Two spring to mind – Dinamo Kyiv in 86 and Leeds United in 92,” he said.

“The atmosphere was absolutely unbelievable.”

Unbelievable.

This is where the club wants to return to in the years to come.

Andrea Radrizzani has made it no secret that his end goal is bringing magical European nights to Elland Road before the end of his spell in West Yorkshire.

McCoist is one of those who has tasted that atmosphere from Leeds fans home and away, and he would certainly welcome the Whites back in the big time.

Steven Gerrard has helped guide Rangers back to Europe in recent years in a huge rebuild, and while that may have been easier in Scotland, the end goal is the same.

The atmosphere has always been something guaranteed with Leeds fans, home and away, no matter which division – League One, Championship and Premier League.

Now, it’s time to imagine what it would be like should we return to European football, we can’t wait for that to happen – let’s concentrate on survival in the league this season first.
