Ally McCoist reacts to Jesse Marsch start at Leeds United after loss v Leicester City

Ally McCoist was left impressed by Leeds United despite their 1-0 defeat against Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.

Jesse Marsch made his debut in the Premier League and saw his side dominate and miss plenty of chances at the King Power Stadium.

McCoist admitted it was much better defensively, although he insisted that there is still plenty of work to do to escape relegation.

Speaking live on talkSPORT this morning (07 March), McCoist reacted to the opening bow of Marsch in the Premier League.

“A lot better though, weren’t they,” he said.

“I made a point as I was listening to it – seemingly the consensus was defensively they were a lot better.

“It’s a funny one because it looked a step in the right direction, but plenty of work to do.”

Better.

We were left impressed by how structured Marsch managed to get the squad despite having less than a week to do it at Elland Road.

Having said that, results are the only thing that matter at this moment in time with how serious our situation is.

Marsch would have been delighted, but it was our finishing in the final third that let us down, with numerous clear cut chances being wasted.

That has to change against Aston Villa and Norwich this week at Elland Road, and if we can at least get four points, if not all six, these worries may all-but-disappear.

That is how quickly things can change with a couple of wins, and we are desperate to reach safety sooner rather than later.
