Ally McCoist makes Elland Road admission after Leeds United win v Middlesbrough
Ally McCoist could not stop himself from lauding Elland Road as Leeds United beat Middlesbrough 3-1 on Tuesday.
The stadium, which is often seen as one of the most prestigious grounds in England, was home to the victory on 10 December, with goals from Wilfried Gnonto, Dan James and Brenden Aaronson sealing all three points.
While Boro did get back onto level terms through a Max Wober own goal, Daniel Farke’s side had too much firepower as they rose above Sheffield United to the top of the Championship table on 10 December.
Speaking live via talkSPORT on Wednesday (11 December, 7:52am), McCoist said: “Their home form has been brilliant. It’s an old-fashioned stadium, teams aren’t scared to go there but they are certainly wary. It’s brilliant.”
Elland Road lauded after Leeds United win v Middlesbrough
Built in 1897, Elland Road is one of the most famous grounds in England and it could be the home of Premier League football next season if Farke can lead the team to glory.
Leeds missed out on promotion by the narrowest of margins last season, losing 1-0 to Southampton in the play-off final at Wembley, but they will be keen to avoid similar heartbreak this time around.
With the Whites going top of the Championship table after 20 games, Farke’s side are certainly in a good position to achieve their main, and likely only, target this season.
Of course, the Blades have a chance to leapfrog Leeds again on Wednesday 11 December but Millwall stand in their way at the Den. Leeds could finish the day still top of the table.

If Leeds are to finally secure promotion back to the Premier League, the Elland Road crowd will certainly play its part and deserves all the recognition it receives throughout the campaign.
20 matches down, 26 matches remaining.
