Ally McCoist makes Calvert-Lewin point as Jeff Stelling reiterates Leeds United concern
Ally McCoist and Jeff Stelling have still not budged from their early-season assessment of Leeds United.
Leeds’ 1-0 defeat to Fulham at the weekend certainly had some positive elements to it, but given the current situation, they were completely drowned out by the growing unrest among the Elland Road faithful.
Warranted, as well, when you consider that the Whites have only found the back of the net once after four Premier League games, and that was from the penalty spot.
Each week may bring a new result, but for the most part, the same concerns will continue to linger over Daniel Farke‘s side.

Leeds attacking concern emerges once again
Stelling has already expressed his concern over where Leeds’ goals will come from, and it is a question that is yet to be answered.
Aside from Lukas Nmecha, who scored a penalty against Everton, the Whites have failed to get any of their other attacking options on the score sheet.
They are sparse, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin used by McCoist to back up the argument once again live on talkSPORT on 15 September.
Stelling said: “My concern has been from right at the start of the season, I don’t know where the goals are coming from.”
To which McCoist replied: “If memory serves me right, I wrote it down after I watched the game. I think Calvert-Lewin had a great chance, was it a header?
“But particularly if you’re a club like Leeds, Sunderland or Burnley, going away from home, you’ve got to take any chances you get. Any chances you get, you’ve got to be clinical.”
Calvert-Lewin was a panic signing by Leeds
Calvert-Lewin has had a nightmarish start to life at Leeds, and it is very difficult to say that we didn’t see it coming.
His time at Everton was marred by injuries, and when fit, his goalscoring record hardly inspired much belief at Goodison Park.
- 24/25 – 26 games, 3 goals, 1 assist
- 23/24 – 38 games, 8 goals, 3 assists
- 22/23 – 18 games, 2 goals, 1 assist
Initially, his addition seemed smart; free, experienced and a good backup to a marquee striker.
The issue is that said marquee striker never arrived, and he is ultimately the one with the pressure of delivering on his shoulders.
Farke needs to work a miracle at Leeds until January, and he needs to find a way to do so very quickly.
