‘All over the place’ – Steve Morison delivers verdict on Leeds, says what is ‘great to watch’
Steve Morison is a huge fan of the brand of football that Leeds United have played since Marcelo Bielsa was appointed in charge.
Although the Whites missed out on promotion last season, they have been by far one of the best teams in the Championship this term and are looking good for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
On Wednesday night, Leeds won their third match in a row as they beat Middlesbrough 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium.
There are 11 games left to play in the Championship this term and as it stands, the Yorkshire giants are five points clear of third.
Whether they can maintain that gap remains to be seen but ex-Leeds striker Morison is simply in awe of the football that has been played at Elland Road.
“The way they play is just out of this world for the Championship,” Morrison said on Sky Sports Main Event on Wednesday night [07:18pm]. “They just play such attacking football, they’re all over the place, the energy with how far they run.
“It’s great to watch. It’s really exciting to watch.”
“They’ve had their dip as well so maybe they’ll come out of the other side whereas last year, that dip continued for quite a long a time and they just getting in the play-offs.”
Leeds may be controlling possession, creating chances and playing football that is really easy on the eye – but they need to start scoring more goals.
Bielsa’s men have won their last three matches 1-0.
It is impressive that they have finally started to keep clean sheets but you just know that there is a mistake in the side sometimes that will lead to them conceding a goal.
If that happens then it’s 1-1 and points are dropped.
Leeds need to start being more ruthless at the other end of the pitch and that isn’t just to say Patrick Bamford needs to start scoring more – everyone does.
