Alioski fires warning shot at Brentford as they move within touching distance to Leeds

Ezgjan Alioski is unconcerned by Brentford’s form as the Bees moved within three points of Leeds United on Saturday.

Brentford won 3-1 at Derby to return to third and go three points behind the Championship leading Whites.

However, Leeds winger Alioski could not care less about what the clubs below the Yorkshire giants are doing and is only worried about what he and his team-mates can produce on the pitch.

“It doesn’t matter – if they win, we win, nobody cares,” said Alioski, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“We need to watch for us.

“Brentford need to hope that we don’t win.

“We don’t need to hope that they lose because we know we are the strongest team in the league and we know that we are going to go on the pitch and beat the other team so Brentford is the team that needs to think that we need to lose.

“We are not the team or the players that need to think and the players don’t do this, to hope or to think and if we win like we did on Thursday then it doesn’t matter what the teams behind us are doing.”

A lot of Leeds fans have pointed out that Brentford always seem to play before Leeds every game week and the same can be said about West Brom and Fulham, although not as consistently.

Leeds have played all but one of their matches after Brentford since the restart with the London club not playing after the Whites once.

Does it add a bit of pressure?

It definitely panics fans a bit more but you can imagine that the Leeds squad are cool and composed about it all, with Marcelo Bielsa taking the lead on that composure.

They’ll be fine against Swansea and if there are any slip ups in that game, it’s not because Brentford played first.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign this Championship striker.
