Alfred Schreuder spotted in talks with Leeds United chief but may not be ultimate choice to be new manager
Alfred Schreuder was reportedly seen in talks with Gaby Ruiz who is the transfer chief at Leeds United after the Manchester United game.
According to LeedsLive journalist Beren Cross, talks are still in their infancy and he may not even end up being the ultimate choice that the hierarchy decides to go with.
The Whites find themselves in a relegation battle and the 2-0 loss to Manchester United certainly has not helped them in their quest to battle away from the bottom three.
Via Twitter, Cross wrote, “Saw Alfred Schreuder walking with Gaby Ruiz, Victor Orta’s European chief, in the West Stand after the game.
“Leeds insist talks are in their infancy and he may not be the ultimate choice, but this is the furthest they’ve gotten with anyone.”
Other options needed
Leeds cannot afford to have all their eggs in one basket and there surely will be better options than Schreuder.
He may have won the league at Club Brugge last season but his recent stint at Ajax, where the expectations were higher, ended in abject failure.
Ajax fans were glad to see the back of him and he may not be the name that would suddenly get the Leeds players to perform at a higher level.

He failed to deliver with the most expensive Ajax squad of all time and there’s little evidence to suggest that the signings at Leeds would fare well under him.
His being at Elland Road should not mean that the door is closed for other managers and there is still hope.
The club needs to properly interview three or four managers and see who best fits their long-term vision but more importantly is the one who’ll get them out of his relegation battle.
