Alex Crook shares verdict on ‘brilliant’ new Leeds United player Djed Spence live on talkSPORT
Djed Spence moving from Tottenham Hotspur to Leeds United is a “good move” for the player, according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook.
The full-back has joined the Whites on a season-long loan, the club’s sixth summer signing, as per the official Leeds website (30 August).
Leeds boss Daniel Farke has already brought Spence’s Tottenham teammate Joe Rodon to Elland Road on loan for the new season.

“I guess in some ways it’s going back to where it all started so well for Spence,” Crook said live on talkSPORT. “He was brilliant for Nottingham Forest on loan as they won promotion to the Premier League.
“He went back to Middlesbrough, they didn’t fancy him, was sold to Tottenham and Antonio Conte made it pretty clear right from the off that he didn’t fancy him either.
“He’s only played four Premier League games at Spurs, so I think this could be a good move to try and reignite his career. Leeds are a big club in the Championship.
“Hopefully from Spence’s point of view he’ll be able to go back to Spurs and have some first-team football behind him.”

Top talent
Spence is definitely a top talent, and can undoubtedly help Leeds in their drive to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Luke Ayling has been handed the number one right-back spot so far under Farke, but that could all change when Spence gets some training under his belt.
The 23-year-old has yet to break into the Tottenham first-team, but this loan spell will do him the world of good, with the North London club also benefitting, as they can keep a close eye on their talented defender.
Spence already has plenty of experience in the Championship, where he has previously shone for both Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest.
His career has taken somewhat of a backwards step since then, but this move should help get him back on track to realising his full potential.
The Whites meanwhile also need to get back on track following their shock League Cup loss to Salford City on Tuesday (29 August).
In other Leeds United news, the club’s bid to sign one player has hit the skids after a “violent incident” happened on Tuesday.
