Alex Crook shares ‘interesting’ Daniel Farke sack verdict as Leeds United exit raised

Alex Crook says it will be “interesting” to see whether Leeds United decide to sack manager Daniel Farke after their play-off heartbreak.

Leeds missed out on a return to the Premier League as they lost 1-0 to Southampton in Sunday’s (26 May) final at Wembley.

Given the fickle nature of football, some are already calling for Farke’s head as a result of failing to go up either automatically of via the play-offs.

Giving his view on the situation on talkSPORT’s Premier League All Access podcast [27 May], reporter Crook said: “There will be a lot of Leeds fans calling for a managerial change, and it’ll be interesting to see which direction they go in.”

Leeds United must keep hold of Daniel Farke

Farke was appointed last summer due to his experience of guiding a club into the Premier League, doing so multiple times with Norwich City.

The German will be as disappointed as anyone not to have taken this hugely talented Leeds squad back up at the first time of asking.

The bottom line, though, is that 90 points was not enough for a top-two finish this season, which is unprecedented in the second tier.

The Whites brushed aside Norwich in the play-off semis and were then up against a tough Southampton side who also racked up 87 points.

This season’s Championship was packed full of quality sides in terms of the top four, and Leeds were ultimately the odd one out.

Players will now depart this summer, but hopefully Farke can use all his experience and ensure the Whites are celebrating in 12 months’ time.
